Unit 5: Task 1 Connections Planning and Organisation
During the scene 'Carrier Bags' that I performed with my peer Raven Roberts, I decided that my character 'A' was very OCD and liked all of his belongings kept to himself in these carrier bags and never wanted to share with anyone because of experiences in the past. I made this assumption about the characters mannerisms by annotating the script (character dialogue). So to continue with the mannerisms that I found when looking through the script and annotating the character's dialogue I decided to work on my performance skills and made it so my character was very direct and also slightly lairy so he had slight attitude.
This then helped me with feedback from my peers. They all said things along the same lines, such as: "I really enjoyed it" or "I liked what you did with your character" but I was extremely interested in having a peer say to me that he liked the pace and tone of my speech as this character. But on the other hand we also had criticism from some peers such as "You should
But also with my peers feedback to my performance it will then help me later by developing my character with the criticism that was given to me.
With my character I made the pace of my speech quite fast or gradually gaining pace as time went on. Furthermore I also made my tone quite demeaning almost as if to sound as though I was better than the other character in the scene, 'B'. So we experimented with these ideas and then went on to use these particular ideas in our performance and it seemed to work.
Furthermore during connections last week we did movement in which we studied trust exercises in groups. This helped us to become more of a team and helped us trust each other more as a group. We studied and attempted many different exercises which helped us progress as a team and progressed as singular actors as it helped with our listening and trust skills with other actors as well.
