Unit 38: Tech Run

Guernica:

WWW: In this tech run we ran through Guernica and it went smoothly and everyone knew where they were meant to be and everyone understood what time they were meant to start their dance piece as the Guernica dance involves a number of groups doing different dances that they choreographed together but it is all based around the same theme. Therefore everyone in their groups sometimes when one group is seconds away from finishing then the next group starts in order to keep in time with the length of the music. Although the energy was really good throughout the performers.

EBI: There were some issues that I think we could all improve on, such as: facial expressions, and timings and remembering the moves. Also we could improve on the transitions between our moves. For example with myself and Jennah's section that starts off the Guernica dance routine we haven't really practiced our piece as much as we should, therefore we had some trouble remembering the moves but it gradually came together towards the end of our piece. Furthermore our transitions lacked some enthusiasm and were quite stiff so it looked at some points as if we didn't know what we were doing.

TARGET: My target for the Guernica dance is to work on my transitions and facial expressions so I don't look as stiff in the actual performance. Also I have to work on remembering the moves which I will do by practising the dance thoroughly.

Pay Day:

WWW: In this tech run we ran through the dance Pay Day which is from the musical Made in Dagenham which we will be performing in January. What went well was that in the second run of Pay Day there was a lot more enthusiasm and energy in the piece and everyone was singing and looking as if they were having fun. Also we were on point with the moves and we remembered the dance. I felt as though I brought energy to the piece as well which will also then look good for the performance tonight.

EBI: What we could have done better and what we need to improve for tonight's performance is to work on our facial expressions and to not have to repeat it, because for the first run through of Pay Day no one was singing and there wasn't a lot of energy that is needed in this upbeat fun dance.

TARGET: I think the target for everyone is to sing along to the backing track of Pay Day because it looks so much better as a whole and it brings the energy up in the performance. Furthermore I think we all need to work on our facial expressions including myself to prepare for the dance performance for this evenings performance.
